As we approach the end of this year, we take time to appreciate our accomplishments in 2023, and some of us plan our travels for the next year.
As an Albanian from Kosovo myself, Albania was almost unreachable for many of us during Enver Hoxha’s Stalinist regime – from 1944 until his death in 1985. Then with the fall of communism in Albania, in December 1990, followed by the Bosnian War between 1992-1995. Later in 1997 the civil war in Albania came, and the genocide in Kosovo between 1998-1999. nightmares, after nightmares made us unable to visit Albania, until the war in kosovo finally ended.
Now in 2023, looking back at how much has changed both in Kosovo and Albania, makes my heart so happy.
As a world traveler, there is nothing better than showing my motherland, the country where my mother tongue comes from, the place where I yearn to go back as often as possible, visiting my family and old friends.
Today, I am happy to start a new travel category on my blog, talking about Albania, especially its southern region.

How to get to Albania
There are a lot of direct flights to Tirana from many European capitals. I would suggest traveling to Tirana by plane, and then either rent a car or take a bus to your preferred destination.
