While statement skirts are nothing new, they’re still coming back every season in different styles and shapes. Finding a statement skirt that provides versatile styling options, and doesn’t require any effort in the morning – this eye-catching piece will definitely save you. On the SS19 runaway shows designers presented different styles, cuts, colors, and lengths of effortlessly chic skirts. From asymmetric-ruffled styles to classic silhouette, power prints and modern details, you can pair the different pieces even with a simple white top and still look stylish.
A fitted skirt with a high, pleated “paper bag” waist, and a belt with a buttons down front is my current favorite. I find it perfect to wear from the office to Saturdays spent at the museum and beyond. Here are few styling notes:
ONE PIECE
Don’t buy a matching blazer and skirt, but try to find the best individual pieces that you can wear as separates. Start with the skirt, then choose a different top and accessories that compliment each other. Whether through colors or textures, but don’t be afraid to look perfectly imperfect.
LOOK FOR SOMETHING SPECIAL
Instead of shopping for simple skirts, look for something special with a Marilyn Monroe version that was made to wiggle around. Find a detail that makes the skirt be the focal point of the outfit, or in embellished style with feathers and sequins. A head-turner statement skirt you want to put on right away.
BREAK THE FASHION RULES
The statement skirts are a great way to start embracing your personality and don’t be afraid to be different. Start playing with the style of the skirt, for example: if your skirt is with polka dots, combine it with a floral top. If you’re wearing a sequin skirt, dare to match it with a oversized sweater, or if your skirt is more simple, then choose a colorful blazer to make it look more artistic.
BALANCE
If you’re looking to update your statement skirt and with which shoes to wear, you probably think of classic pump first. A pair of sneakers works well to balance any kind of a skirt and still look stylish all day long.
