I have been taking care of my skin since a young age. In my twenties, I never had skin problems; I just needed extra moisturizer for my dry skin, et voilà, glowing skin all-year-long! But this changed when I got thirty. Not just that a moisturizer wouldn’t help me to get the glow, but I had to face my worst breakouts ever. With the help of the right skincare products and home remedies I could heal my skin. Since then my nighttime routine is the number one priority before I go to bed.
It’s true that during the night our skin absorbs all benefits of the products, better than during the daytime. Because there aren’t environmental stressors at night like pollution, as well as there is no sun damage. While we sleep, the products are able to penetrate better when we are makeup free and the skin can breathe.
As a skin care enthusiast, the nighttime skincare routine is very important. It makes me sleep better, and it makes me feel good when I wake up. There is nothing better than having a perfect clean, moisturized and relaxed skin. I have tried different routines, but this easy 6 step routine including my favorite Estée Lauder products, is the best for a quick routine that everyone should practice. All these Estée Lauder products are available at Müller Austria.
I really swear by this nighttime basic skin routine for a clear skin, which looks like this:
- cleanse
- serum
- massage
- hydrate
- eye-care
- moisturize
STEP 1 – Cleanse
Sleeping in your makeup is a skincare sin. When I think back to my early 20ties I sinned many times. Now, I cannot imagine myself to sleep in makeup. I love to wash my face with Estée Lauder – Advanced Night Micro Cleansing Foam. This airy foam purifies the skin, removes the makeup and the pollution, as it purifies deep within skin’s surface to improve the overall healthy look.
Cleansing pro tips:
- If you cannot wash off your waterproof mascara with the cleansing foam, add organic coconut oil directly into your eyes or on a cotton pad.
- After cleaning your face with the coconut oil, rinse thoroughly with warm water. Then wash your face with Advanced Night Micro Cleansing Foam, while massaging gently over damp skin. Rinse thoroughly again with warm water. Sometimes double cleansing is a must to get rid of waterproof makeup!
STEP 2 – Serum
With seasons changes, there are days when the weather affects my skin a lot. That’s the time I need extra hydration. I recently added Estée Lauder‘s new Intense Reset Concentrate to my night time routine and it improves the texture overtime and soothes irritation in just 1 hour. This incredible overnight treatment, with Chronolux™ S.O.S. technology, rescues and resets the look of skin immediately. It provides 24-hour moisture with 15x concentrated Hyaluronic Acid in a multi-molecular weight complex. It works like MAGIC!
The FAQs about serums:
What is serum?
Serum is a skincare product which you can apply after cleansing, and before moisturizing. Serums will deliver all powerful ingredients directly into the clean skin.
Can I use a serum as my moisturizer?
No. Although serums do hydrate, they should never be used alone. They do not contain the protective ingredients that creams do and are not richer than creams. When serums are used before the cream, then it creates a protection on the skin to keep all that good stuff in.
How much serum should I apply to my skin?
Never apply more than a dime size. You won’t have better results, if you use more. The skin can only absorb a small size of the product, and that’s enough. Less is more!
How to make serums go deeper into the skin?
Use massage rollers to increase blood circulation, so that the skin can soak up the serum.
STEP 3: Massage
Nowadays facial rollers are available everywhere. Whether its jade or rose quartz or different crystals, these devices have became a must-have of every beauty guru. I love using my rose quartz facial roller after I apply the serum; and massage easily into the skin of the face and neck. The facial roller makes serum to penetrates deeply into the skin and deliver a very high concentration of active ingredients.
STEP 4: Extra hydration and nourishing
For extra hydration, I like to use fresh aloe vera after I massage my face and neck with the facial roller. Aloe vera contains vitamins and minerals, such as vitamins C and E that fights acne, prevent dark spots, and even slow down the signs of aging. I cut off a small piece of the aloe vera leaf, then peel off all of the skin on one side of the each leaf, leaving a eye-mask-shaped half filled with gel. I leave it under the eye-area for 7 min, while I brush my teeth. On the weekends, I take extra time for a 20 min aloe vera face mask.
STEP 5: Eyes
The skin around the eyes is very delicate, so we need to give this area the care and attention it deserves. That’s why it’s very important to invest in a good eye cream! I love to use Estée Lauder‘s Advanced Night Repair Eye Supercharged Complex. This has 10x Concentrated Repair Technology, that helps to repair the visible impact of lack of sleep, UV rays, pollution, even blue light. It’s proven to reveal a bright, hydrated, visibly revived look with comprehensive benefits for the eye area.
STEP 6: Moisturize
The final step is to lock in all the ingredients that you’ve just put on your skin, while ensuring your skin stays hydrated. Not to mention your skin often feels soft and plump directly after applying it. I added the new Revitalizing Supreme + Night Crème on my nighttime routine, and this night creme holds key building blocks of life such as calcium, potassium, Vitamin C, amino acids and Omega 3. It’s one of the most powerful anti-aging ingredients to keep the skin young and flawless.
Last but not least, don’t forget to take your 8 hours sleep. Try setting a bedtime alarm to get a full night’s rest, and to get the real health benefits for your body, mind and skin.
