*NOTE: Unfortunately we are still in unusual times, and the COVID-19 regulations change rapidly. Please check here the latest information before making your journey to Portugal.
Another check off my bucket list! Over the past decade since I have started my blog, I was mostly focused on travelling within central Europe. Although Portugal was always on my wish-list, somehow I never made it. However as we know, for everything there is a season, a reason and time.
Thanks to my longtime friend and colleague Maria Ratzinger who had a brilliant idea to visit Lisbon in September, this trip was the best thing we have planned to start the fall season. Our journey started from Vienna to Lisbon, followed with a short trip to Sesimbra region.
We spent four nights at The Vintage Hotel & SPA in Lisbon, and we had a wonderful experience. Scroll down to read more about the hotel where we stayed in Lisbon:
ABOUT THE HOTEL
The Vintage Hotel & SPA is a stylish boutique hotel located in the vibrant neighbourhood of Lisbon’s city center. It offers a modern Portuguese restaurant, a charming rooftop bar, as well as a relaxing spa area. The interior has warm colors filled with vintage furniture and art.
What makes this boutique hotel even more appealing is its perfect location. The Vintage Hotel & SPA is situated in the quiet side street right between the designer shops and restaurant hotspots of Principe Real and Avenida da Liberdade. The waterfront, Praça do Comercio, all the wonderful art Museums can be reached in 25-30 min walk in one direction.
The style of the hotel is as it’s called and it has a very warm atmosphere. Vintage but contemporary, decorated with stylish vintage pieces, like the mid-century vintage trolley bar carts— of course the Portuguese gin on board in each room. Each room has art pieces from contemporary artists, colourful prints, ceramics, and products from Portugal’s artisanal brands.
SERVICE & FACILITIES
Overall the service is friendly and efficient. The facilities are magnificent, including toothpaste Pasta Dentífrica Couto, luxury shampoos, hair conditioners, body lotions by iconic beauty brand Benamôr. The hotel has a nice small spa & gym area with a steam room, sauna, jet pool and treatments using Portuguese, French and Italian brands. I had a 50min Vintage de-stress massage and it was excellent. Here you can find the spa treatment menu.
There are yoga classes and guest DJs on the V Rooftop bar. Definitely worth visiting.
ROOMS
The Vintage Hotel & SPA has 53 rooms and three suites. All of them have a rich palette of colors like warm blue and terracotta walls. All rooms have vintage lamps, telephones, chairs and trolley bar carts with a complimentary gin and tonic kit. A minibar, coffee machines and tea. Shower only bathrooms with luxury amenities by Benamôr.
EAT & DRINK
The Blue is a chic and relaxed restaurant offering a light and contemporary Portuguese cuisine with fresh local products. The breakfast buffet is just perfect— from the cheese to bread selection, freshly pressed juices, as well as pancakes, boiled to poached eggs, to order.
The V rooftop bar and restaurant serves great cocktails and light dishes in summer months. Try the goat cheese salad and the V Hamburger with fat chips. It was so delicious!
