The city that never sleeps, has definitely the best rooftop views. If you are planning to visit New York City and don’t know where to go for the best cocktails, appetizer and views. Here are my top favorite rooftop bars in NYC:
One of my favorite rooftop bar in NYC, has a beautiful open air rooftop space with outstanding views of Lower Manhattan and the Brooklyn Bridge. Open seasonally, the lounge poolside with NYC skyline views and handcrafted cocktails from the rooftop bar, then you can cool off with a dip in plunge pool (open seasonally). Go for afternoon cocktails and bites, to enjoy the best view over the Brooklyn Bridge. Try the Poolside cocktail, with a delicious watermelon taste or my favorite Heatstroke cocktail. For food, I suggest the Black Bean Burger and Tuna Poke.
Probably the most exclusive rooftop bar in NYC, on the 65th floor of 30 Rock. Located on the west end of the 65th floor, adjacent to the Rainbow Room, Bar SixtyFive at Rainbow Room hast the highest outdoor terrace bar in New York City. In a very classy space, you can have curated cocktails, also wonderful Sunday brunch. Excellent food and desserts, as well as a award-winning brunch cocktails, is worth to experience it once.
What I love the most about Ophelia is the beautifully decorated interior in Art Deco style, and the stunning 360 view of the east side of Manhattan. Ophelia is located on the top floor of the historic 1920s residence for women, the Beekman Tower. Besides the view and great cocktails, you can have bites too, such as: truffle fries, oysters, crudité, cheese plate etc.
They say – if you get in, the hardest part is over. The rooftop bar of the trendy Standard Hotel, Le Bain’s two floors offers stunning views of the Hudson River and, New Jersey. Featuring world-famous DJs, an open-air terrace with faux grass, lounge chairs, and a crêpe counter. Summer afternoons are best to catch the sunset rays, alone or with friends. Arrive early on a summer afternoon for wonderful sunset drinks and snacks. In colder months, you can still the view, cocktails and the music.
Located on the top floor of the The James Hotel, the bar offers one of the best views with an incredible terrace over Manhattan and a small pool. In colder months you can go for delicious cocktails and breathtaking Manhattan views, or on a late summer afternoon in relaxed summer attire for an Apéritif. The clientele of Jimmy is mostly local, so the bar will be full of people who come after work during the week, also peak hours are from 10 o’clock at night. I think the best time to visit it is from May to September, so that you can enjoy the rooftop terrace with pool and outstanding views.
Salon de Ning at The Peninsula
Probably the best view over the 5th Avenue is from the Salon de Ning in New York. This rooftop bar is quiet pricey, as you might expect it at the Peninsula, but it has an excellent service and wonderful signature cocktails and drinks that are Ning specialties. Try the rooftop’s best-selling cocktail, the lychee-topped Ning Sling and enjoy the view of 5th Avenue.
Refinery Rooftop (Midtown West)
Also one of my favorite rooftop bars in NYC, which is located in Midtown West at Refinery Hotel. It has wonderful views over the Manhattan skyline and Empire State Building. Featuring glass roof, indoor seating and outdoor terrace – Refinery Rooftop can be visited all year-round, and you can sit inside for lunch or enjoying a handcrafted cocktail outdoor in the evening. The clientele is mostly touristy but also well visited by New York locals.
