After five wonderful sunny days in Lisbon, my friend Maria and I checked-in Villa Epicurea. This villa is a small eco-lodge, located in the middle of nature and with breathtaking ocean views from all rooms and terraces. Inspired by Epicurus “garden” philosophy, the Villa Epicurea’s nature retreat in Serra d’Arrábida, was designed for overall well-being and relaxing the mind. It is a 40 km drive from Lisbon, and you are totally in sync with nature and endless ocean views.
A perfect city escape
With just five rooms, the villa is a perfect retreat to unwind and relax. There are opportunities to choose between one of the three suites in the main house or one of the two eco-villas for more privacy, which are also located on the property.
In the main house there is a common area with a cozy living room, fireplace, an open kitchen and a glass wall with a wonderful view of the sea.
The Pool
The bio infinity pool has great views of the lush greenery and ocean and is the perfect place to relax after visiting one of the nearby beaches.
The Food
Villa Epicurea offers vegetarian/vegan breakfast, and it is included in all of the prices. Lunch and dinner are also available on request.
Activities
The activities include massages, yoga classes, vegetarian cooking classes, surfing classes and other activities upon request.
In the area
Sesimbra is a town full of nice surprises and also offers historic landmarks such as a medieval castle. In case you’re a foodie, small seafood restaurants and local wineries are also available.
You can ride a bike through the evergreen landscape of Serra d’Arrábida, a horse ride next to the seashore or hike to discover a hidden beach.
Other
This villa reminded me of the villa I stayed in Tulum with my friends. No reception, no 24h room service. So, do not expect luxury service, or someone to help you with your suitcases. Since this is a small villa, there are only a few people who work here.
