In the center of the island is where you find the nightlife. The island provides a super positive vibe, when the international crowd gathers together in the night. In old town you can find lots of great restaurants, high-end shopping and trendy-cool bars. My very first visit to Mykonos was a great fun and getting lost in the twisting-turning alleyways was fun too.
If you are planing to visit Mykonos, I would suggest to find a hotel nearby the town like Bill & Coo Suites & Lounge, where you can go to the beach by walk and return to town in the late afternoon to enjoy the wonderful atmosphere of Mykonos town.
Located in the Cyclades, Greek’s famous holiday islands that only seem to be rising in popularity each year, Mykonos offers everything for a perfect vacation. Tiny white alleys with blue balconies framed by fuchsia bougainvillea, beautiful beaches, delicious Greek cuisine, super-luxurious resorts that offer great comfort overlooking the sea, a raging nightlife that appeals to party-lovers, glamorous fellow island inhabitants.
GET LOST IN THE OLD TOWN (HORA)
Hora or the Old Town is a lively center of activities and filled with visitors. The town center is full of narrow whitewashed alleys and bright blue and pink balconies characteristic of Cycladic towns. You’ll find lots of homes, restaurants, pubs, shops and cute little churches. Take your time by getting lost in narrow alleys, sit down for a Greek coffee and feel the good vibes.
VISIT THE WINDMILLS AT THE LITTLE VENICE
The obligatory windmill photo close to Little Venice is a must. You can easily walk from the town center towards the waterfront and you’ll see the windmills. To avoid the crowds of tourists waiting to take a photo, visit the windmills early in the morning. The windmills were built in the 16th century and feature on many photos, postcards and paintings of Mykonos and once you see them for real, it’s easy to see the appeal.
SUNSET DRINKS AT LITTLE VENICE
The Little Venice is full with bars and restaurants, but it can get very busy around and after sunset, however waiting is totally worth it. It might be hard to find a more romantic way to a Myconian sunset, but the vest alternative is to enjoy your drinks and watch the sunset with a poolside lounge at Bill & Coo Suites & Lounge.

GET YOUR TAN
You can find many beautiful beaches in Mykonos. Some are known for their extreme parties, some about the predominantly gay tourists, and some about the family beaches. A ten-minute drive from the town center, the famous Psarou Beach is definitely one of the nicer beaches, suitable for couples and families. Get your beachwear and your sunscreen with, and prepare yourself to spend an entire day working on your tan and just relax to the max.
DELICIOUS GREEK CUISINE
I am a huge fan of Greek cuisine, that has all the Mediterranean deliciousness. The food has the potential to blow your mind, so choose your restaurants wisely. Think simple, fresh ingredients, prepared in easy and classic ways sure to impress food lovers and you pretty much get the idea. For good food at a reasonable price, go to the old town and find great greek taverns, like Nikos Tavern, Katerina’s Restaurant & Cocktail Bar, Eva’s Garden Restaurant etc. Silia and I loved the Souvlaki’s at Pepper Mykonos, and the Italian/Greek restaurant Barkia for pasta, seafood and more. Try the seafood options- the swordfish and mussels preparations are almost always a hit in the Cyclades.

NIGHTLIFE
I don’t have any images from the nightlife, but it’s no doubt that Mykonos is great for nightlife, especially during the summer months and even as late as September. N’ammos and Paradise Beach Club are both great places to party and Skandinavian Bar in the town center enjoys quite the party crazy reputation. We visited during late September and most beach clubs including Paradise Beach were shut, but the Skandinavian Bar had people queuing up for hours to get in. Another bar with a cool vibe (also in the town) is Argo, and I can only imagine that there are plenty of options during the livelier summer months when parties go on till sunrise.

We had the chance to meet the Island’s attraction, the pink Pelican named Petros!
Petros is a great pink pelican, who is the official mascot of the Greek island of Mykonos. According to Wikipedia, in 1958 the first pelican was founded off the coast of Mykonos shore by a local fisherman. The pelican was nursed to health and remained on the island supported by locals. It soon adopted the name “Petros”, as a joke between the locals, as “petro” in Greek means rock, stone but metaphorically Old and Grumpy. To great disappointment by locals and tourists alike, Petros was hit by a car on 2 December 1985 and failed to recover.
Subsequently, three new pelicans reside around the main town of Mykonos. One, honorifically, was given the name Petros and it’s this pelican you see on the photos.
I fell in love with Petros!
Mykonos is also famous for it’s high-end fashion boutiques, jewelry boutiques and many international muti-brand stores. At Enoplon Dynameon,Tria Pigadia, Mykonos you’ll find the Chopard boutique, as well as Louis Vuitton and many more.
