A TRAVEL GUIDE TO THE MOST BEAUTIFUL CITY IN THE CARIBBEAN: HAVANA, CUBA

Havana is a one of a kind vibrant city with a rich history, culture, and traditions that make it an exciting destination for travelers from all over the world.

Here’s a guide to help you plan your trip to Havana, including recommendations on where to stay, eat, drink, what to do, and what to see.

Where to Stay?

Havana has a range of accommodation options to suit different budgets and preferences. If you’re looking for a luxurious experience, the Gran Hotel Manzana Kempinski La Habana is a great choice. This hotel is located in the heart of Old Havana and offers stunning views of the city from its rooftop terrace. For a more affordable option, check out the Gran Bristol La Habana, which is also located in Old Havana and offers comfortable rooms and great amenities. For small boutique hotels check: Elvira Boutique Hotel, La Reserva Vedado, Paseo206 Cuba Boutique Hotel, VOYA Boutique, Hacienda “El Patrón”, and A S boutique residence.

Where to Eat?

Havana is known for its delicious food, which blends Spanish, African, and Caribbean influences. For a fancy dinner experience, head to La Guarida, which is located in a historic building and has a rooftop terrace with amazing views of the city. Another great option is El Cocinero, which is housed in a converted factory and serves up delicious food and cocktails. More amazing locations such as: Yarni Habana, and El Bleco.

Where to Drink?

Cuba is famous for its rum, and there are plenty of great bars in Havana where you can sample the local brew. One of the most iconic bars in the city is El Floridita, which was a favorite of Ernest Hemingway. For a more upscale experience, check out the Gardens Havana, HAV coffee & art, El Cafe, Habana 5, Sibarita Habana, O’reilly 303.

What to Do?

Havana is a city full of life and energy, and there’s always something to see and do. Take a stroll through Old Havana to see the city’s picturesque colonial architecture and historic landmarks such as El Capitol, El Morro, Plaza de la Caterdral and Paseo del Prado. Visit the Museum of the Revolution to learn about Cuba’s fascinating history. Another must see is the Museu Nacional de Belas Artes de Cuba, glimpse of colonial Cuba. Take a ride in a vintage car to see the city from a unique perspective, or head to the beach to soak up some sun. A ride in a vintage car costs 30-40 USD for one hour ride. It’s a wonderful experience to see most important parts of the city.

What to See?

Havana is home to a number of iconic landmarks and attractions. One of the most famous is the Malecon, a seawall that stretches for miles along the coast and offers stunning views of the city and the sea. Visit the Plaza de la Revolucion to see the massive monument to Che Guevara and the iconic image of Che Guevara on the Ministry of Interior Building. Explore the impressive architecture of the Gran Teatro de La Habana, a historic theater that has hosted some of the world’s most famous performers.

Insider Tips:

If you’re planning a trip to Havana in 2023, here are some insider tips to help you make the most of your visit:

1. Bring cash: Credit cards are not widely accepted in Havana, so it’s a good idea to bring plenty of cash with you. As a tourist, you should bring cash in EUROS or even USD are welcome. Exchange a little cash to CUP, if you want to buy souvenirs or some shops may also accept only CUPs.

2. Learn some Spanish: While many people in Havana speak English, it’s always a good idea to learn some basic Spanish phrases to help you get by.

3. Don’t drink the tap water: Stick to bottled water to avoid getting sick.

4. Dress appropriately: Havana is a conservative city, so it’s a good idea to dress modestly and avoid wearing revealing clothing.

5. Book ahead: Havana is a popular tourist destination, so it’s a good idea to book your accommodation and activities in advance to avoid disappointment.

7. Shopping in Havana: Buy cigars at Partagas / La Cuna del Habano, beautiful handmade ceramics at La Casa Habanera, and most beautiful and famous tailor shop in the city at QUITRIN, in Calle Obispo, 163, La Habana.
